Building robots.
Opening doors.

We’re Helios, FTC Team 5214, based at The Quarry Lane School ↗ in Dublin, California. We design and program competition robots, then take what we’ve learned into our community.

GETTING TO KNOW ROBOTICS

What are FIRST and FTC?

Robotics competitions are only part of the story. These programs help students learn engineering, teamwork, and leadership by doing real projects.

01 / THE ORGANIZATION

What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a nonprofit that introduces young people to STEM through team-based robotics programs. Students learn to solve problems, work together, and support their communities.

02 / OUR COMPETITION

What is FTC robotics?

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics competition for students in grades 7–12. Each season, teams design, build, and program a robot for a new game, then compete in matches with and against other teams. Outreach is part of the experience, too.

SINCE 2010
WHO WE ARE

Meet Team 5214.

We’re students who spend our time making mechanisms work, fixing code, planning matches, and learning from what didn’t go right the first time.

Our team has been competing in FTC since 2010. Every season brings a new game and a new set of things to figure out together.

BEYOND COMPETITION

Robotics belongs
in our community.

On October 16, 2026, we brought our FTC robot and STEM activities to children at Lakeside Apartments in Concord. See what we did and why access to hands-on learning matters to us.
